Maalavika Nair has completed her postgraduation in Archaeology and Heritage Management from Dr B.R. Ambedkar University, Delhi, with a background in History from the University of Delhi. Her academic interests include archaeology, heritage conservation, temple studies, epigraphy, archaeological documentation, and cultural landscapes. She has received training in field excavation, survey, artefact analysis, documentation, QGIS, and heritage conservation.
Her research and field experience have involved archaeological surveys, site documentation, artefact cataloguing, heritage recording, and museum studies. She is particularly interested in understanding how material culture, historical narratives, and heritage landscapes contribute to the interpretation of the past.
Her M.A. dissertation examines the relationship between literary traditions and archaeological evidence. She has also co-authored Submerging Sanctums: An Archaeological Documentation of Rakhetara Region in the Aur River Valley (2025), reflecting her commitment to research and heritage documentation. Alongside her academic pursuits, she is pursuing formal training in Kathak and has a keen interest in India’s cultural heritage.
