Shaan Kashyap, a historian and translator, studied Modern History at Banaras Hindu University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and Ravenshaw University. He has presented his work before academic and public audiences at institutions ranging from the India International Centre to Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and Stockholm University. Beginning his career as a columnist and sub-editor at Organiser Weekly, he soon turned to historical scholarship as his true calling. He is a member of Indian History Congress, Society for the History of Science Kolkata, Indian Society for History of Mathematics, and other similar organisations. A Sir Jadunath Sarkar Fellow in Indian History with FIHCR (2024–25), his forthcoming book with Penguin Random House explores the social history of professional historians in India. He is also a public historian and has contributed essays for OPEN Magazine, Outlook, LSE Review of Books, Rediff, News18, and other publications.
