Hindu History of Kashmir

Kashmir, often referred to as the “Abode of Rishis,” holds a unique and rich place in the historical, spiritual, and intellectual heritage of India. While the region has long been associated with its scenic beauty and geo-political importance, its pre-Islamic Hindu past — including its religious, philosophical, literary, and political contributions — remains underrepresented in contemporary academic discourse.

This research aims to critically document, analyze, and revive understanding of Kashmir’s Hindu past, not only to preserve historical truth but also to contribute to the larger project of cultural continuity and reconciliation. The project is being carried out by Dr. Vikram Sampath, in collaboration with Vatsala Hali.
