Prasanna is an archaeologist and researcher specialising in temple architecture and iconography. He holds a Master’s degree in A.I.H.C. & Archaeology from the Deccan College, Pune. His Master’s dissertation, Iconography of the Bhoganandīśvara Temple, Nandi, Karnataka, addresses the question of artistic innovation in temples patronised by minor dynasties, such as the Nolạmbas.

He is a PhD candidate and former UGC-Senior Research Fellow from the Department of Archaeology & Ancient History, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. His doctoral research examines the archaeological traces of the Nātha Siddha tradition in Southern Āndhradeśa. His primary research interests encompass religious art, iconography and the archaeology of religion, with a special focus on Southern India. He has published research articles, presented conference papers and delivered invited lectures on various aspects of Śaiva iconography and archaeology.

Beyond academia, he is keenly interested in public engagement and in undertaking guided tours of historical temples to promote a critical appreciation of India’s cultural heritage among interested audiences.
